Geometric Glovius is a sophisticated tool for viewing, analysing, and converting 3D CAD models. A team from India developed it. It is now part of the HCL Technologies initiative. The idea is to allow anyone to open files from the most popular CAD systems without installing separate software for each one. It has drawn significant attention from engineers, technicians, and managers—in short, anyone who reviews design documentation.
Models can be viewed interactively by rotating and zooming. Standard views include front, top, and isometric, and users can create custom views. Models can be displayed in various ways, and the visibility of individual assembly components can be adjusted to facilitate easier navigation.
On the left, you can see the entire assembly structure tree, including a hierarchy of all components. Each component’s information is shown, with filtering and searching options available.
Geometric Glovius is genuinely ubiquitous software. It addresses the primary issue with transferring CAD data: the ability to open files without the native CAD system. The program supports practically all major formats, and its built-in measuring and analysis features are enough for most needs. There is a version comparison option, which is useful when dealing with modifications. The UI is straightforward, but it takes around 20 minutes to figure out.
