This work combines the features of two previously released applications from the Sysinternals developers, Filemon and Regmon. Some new features have also been added, including broad and sophisticated filtering, the ability to view large amounts of event data, and the option to view both session IDs and usernames. Microsoft Process Monitor also provides accurate information about all processes, has a complete stack trace with built-in support for all ongoing actions, and allows for simultaneous logging to files, among other capabilities.
The Process Monitor tool is lightweight and portable, and it can be run from a flash drive without any problems. It’s simple, with tabs that are easy to switch between.
