WinSCP is a popular FTP and SFTP client program. The program is completely open source and free. The purpose is simple: transfer files between your computer and a remote server. It supports a variety of protocols beyond the conventional File Transfer Protocol.

Once run, the default mode is Norton Commander-style, with two panels: your local drive on the left and a remote server on the right. Those who have used Total Commander or Phar will immediately recognise it. If you are more comfortable with the standard type of conductor in Windows 11, go to Settings and select Single-Panel mode.

There is an analogue of FileZilla – in some places, a free and also very popular FTP client, the interface there is simpler and for beginners it may be clearer, but Zilla has an unpleasant story when advertising garbage was shoved into the installer from the official website. There is still Cyberduck – a beautiful and modern client with support for cloud storage, but it is noticeably slower on large lists of files and periodically asks for donations at each launch.
