Map Displays
An animated 2D map displays your vehicle’s entire itinerary and its current position. The route line is colour-coded by vehicle speed. Click anywhere along the route to advance to that point in the video sequence. Choose from various map sources (Google, MapQuest) and themes (satellite, road, hybrid). Geotag markers highlight crucial points along the route.
Geotags
Geotags are personalised marks that you can place at any point along your journey. They are displayed on the map and in the Geotags list view. Each geotag includes metadata such as time, date, speed, latitude, longitude, street address, movie name, and movie time. Double-clicking a geotag in the Geotags List will take you directly to that location in the video sequence. Geotags can be exported and imported for convenient access.
Export GPS data from the dashcam. Viewer’s Data Browser lets you preview and export GPS data in a variety of formats, including CSV, GPX, Google Earth KML, and GeoJSON. Videos can be exported as short clips with or without sound, and at accelerated or decelerated playback rates. However, frames from films can be exported as JPG, PNG, or BMP images, either individually or at a set frequency.
Data plots
Dashcam Viewer Plot Views display a time history of your vehicle’s speed, distance, and compass orientation. Dashcams that record additional GPS data display the G-sensor (shock), vehicle altitude, number of GPS satellites in view, and horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP).
Audio event detection
Abrupt volume shifts often mark significant events in the video series. For example, the sound of a collision or a horn can be heard amid the usual background of vehicle noise. Dashcam Viewer’s Audio Event Detection feature can help you locate crucial sound occurrences in a sequence of films.
Videos List
Loaded videos are displayed in the Videos list. Uninteresting videos can be turned off so they don’t appear in the video sequence, and their GPS data is erased. To play a specific video, double-click it in the playlist. The list item displays additional information about each film, such as file size, maximum vehicle speed, date, and time, along with its file name.
Trip List
Dashcam Viewer automatically organises videos into journeys. A trip is defined as one or more consecutive videos with no break longer than one minute. Dashcam Viewer then calculates data for each trip. This covers the start date and time, trip duration, time between trips, and number of videos per trip.
Export and Merge Video
You can convert entire videos or parts of them into short snippets or photo collections. Video clips can be exported with or without sound, at accelerated or decelerated playing speeds. Frames can still be exported as JPG, PNG, or BMP files individually or at a set frequency. You can also merge many videos into a single huge file. When merging, Dashcam Viewer generates a GPX file containing GPS data from the selected films, which you can import back into Dashcam Viewer if necessary.
Dashboard Display
Dashcam Viewer’s dashboard displays your vehicle’s current stats, including position, speed, and compass heading. Speed can be expressed in mph or km/h. The dashboard also displays the weather conditions for the time and place of the drive. Dashcam Viewer displays the altitude, number of satellites in view, and signal confidence for dashcams that support advanced GPS data collecting. Choose one of the Pro version’s 19 compass pointer icons.
